For the purposes of Data Protection Legislation, Methuen Publishing Limited (MPL) and Methuen & Co Limited (MCo) are Data Controllers, in respect of data the companies may hold from time to time, concerning authors whose works are published by one or other of the two companies. Many of the authors published either by MPL or MCo are clients of literary agents or similar organisations and data held concerning these authors is limited to their name and the name and address of their literary agent. Where a published author is not represented by a literary agent, the personal data held by MPL or MCo is limited to their name and address, their email contact, their telephone number and their VAT number, where appropriate. It is the companies’ policy not the give out personal data of authors to any third party. Where information concerning an author is requested, the policy is to request a written communication, which is then passed on to the relevant literary agent or to the author. All employees and freelancers of both MPL and MCo have been made aware of the above and will observe the two companies’ policy with regard to personal data held.
